Saturday Sessions: Jade Jackson performs “Aden”
Rolling Stone says Jade Jackson is an up-and-coming artist you need to know. Jackson grew up in the small town of Santa Margarita, California, in a house free of television and computers. Her father’s record collection provided entertainment – and inspiration. At 13, she began writing and performing songs and after college formed a band. Her debut album “Gilded” was produced by Mike Ness of the punk band Social Distortion.

Battle of Broken Hill – Handsome Young Strangers

It’s an absolute pleasure to pretty
much see out 2016 at pretty much where we came in, raving about
Australian celtic-punk bands! It’s been another outstanding year for the
Aussies with both The Rumjacks and The Go-Set continuing to tour like
crazy all over the world leaving nothing but good wishes and lot’s of
new fans in their wake. Well hopefully we can soon add Handsome Young
Strangers to that list as it would be criminal plain wrong to
not tour this, especially in London! Now Handsome Young
Strangers are not a new band they actually formed way back in 2004 as a
sort of loose collective and it wasn’t until 2007 they recorded for the
first time, the Shane Warne EP in honour of the hard drinking and hard
living Aussie cricketer. This was followed by another EP, Melbourne
Town, in 2009 and in 2011 their debut album Here’s The Thunder Lads! hit
the streets and the following year another EP, Thunderbolt, was their
last release till now. They could quite rightly consider themselves some
sort of super group given the amount of talent in their ranks including
past and present members of, among others: Sydney City Trash, The
Rumjacks, Roaring Jack and The Bottlers….

The Dead South – In Good Company

Canada’s The Dead South often refer to their band as “Mumford and Sons’
Evil Twins” and take a tongue in cheek attitude with their aesthetic of
old western pioneers. But make no mistake, The Dead South are a
genuinely good band that goes far beyond how they bill themselves, which
is showcased on their debut album Good Company.

B.J. Barham – Rockingham

Stepping away as front man for Raleigh NC’s
American Aquarium, BJ Barham shows just how great of a songwriter he can
be. The stories are what make this album so strong and the back up
crew are solid, but subtle.

Sian Evans – Cold Feet

Sian Evans’ journey with music has seen her explore the continent
playing numerous festivals and connecting with the full spectrum of pro
muso’s over numerous genre’s and styles. These days she be settlin’ into
a fine concave of folk/roots, alt-country/soul-grass and folk music
being the master nest fuelling last years EP “How time has treated thee”
with Aria award winning producer, Govinda Doyle, featuring the single
“Take me Home” pondering the simple joys, and title track “Blackest
Crow”, Sian’s version of Traditional American folk song, amongst a few
other mountainous ditty’s showcasing her fresh banjo slinging skills.
With the latest release of new single “Cold Feet” produced by Josh
Schuberth in Love Hz studios, Sydney, and featuring Gareth Mewes on
Fiddle and Mike Haydon on percussion, the breathy rollicking pop-country
ditty is a sequel to last years single and currently in line for a
Queensland Music Award.

Her creative endeavours have spurred successful projects in dinky
ragtime/jazz (Pollysassin), flood-folk/new-grass (The Rusty Datsuns) as
well as her own solo gypsy-jazz/ roots works (Bessy-Lou).
